Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction - ice
Is also great
And would suffice.
Some say in ice.
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction - ice
Is also great
And would suffice.
By: Robert Frost
Robert Frost, amongst America's best poets of all time. A true inspiration he has been, and being a poet myself, I think poets don't get near as much credit as they deserve. I've known this poem like the back of my hand since I was in 6th grade and the mystery hidden within it is astounding. One allegory at its finest and a poem that holds countless meanings. In a heartbeat, I would give the penny for the thought that Frost was thinking while he wrote this poem.
